Things get gloriously grisly in August with the release of 2006’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning on Limited Edition 4K UHD. After 2003’s successful remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes would take another trip to the Lone Star State for the terrifying prequel. Feast your eyes on this twisted and horrifying vision of the Hewitts’ origins, presented here in its original Theatrical Version and the extended Uncut Version for the first time on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, along with a reversible sleeve, poster and collector’s booklet!

Legendary director Don Siegel (Dirty Harry) directs the iconic John Wayne in The Shootist on Limited Edition Blu-ray. Wayne plays an ageing gunfighter dying of cancer in his final screen appearance, a superb adaptation of Glendon Swarthout’s classic western novel. With an outstanding cast that features not only Wayne, but James Stewart, Lauren Bacall, Ron Howard, Scatman Crothers and John Carradine, The Shootist is an elegiac ode to a monumental screen presence and to the Western genre itself. The release includes a collector’s booklet and reversible sleeve.

Next in August, dare you set foot in Enemy Territory on Limited Edition Blu-ray – an intense action-thriller filled with guns, gangs and danger round every corner? Exploding onto high definition in a brand new restoration, the long unavailable Empire Pictures classic is back and it’s taking no prisoners! Directed by Peter Manoogian (Eliminators), photographed by Ernest Dickerson (Do the Right Thing), starring Gary Frank, Ray Parker Jr., Jan-Michael Vincent, Stacey Dash, and featuring a stand out early role for genre legend Tony Todd (Candyman), Enemy Territory is a cult classic that continues to pack a powerful punch. With a brand new restoration, a brand new audio commentary by director Manoogian, a reversible sleeve, double-sided foldout poster and an illustrated collector’s booklet, Enemy Territory is the place you want to be in August!

August sees the release of Michael Mann’s Thief on Limited Edition 4K UHDFor his first theatrical feature, Mann returned to the rain-soaked streets of his hometown, Chicago, for a stunning piece of neo-noir starring James Caan (The Godfather, Rollerball) at his toughest. With a sterling supporting cast in the shape of Tuesday Weld, James Belushi, Robert Prosky, Willie Nelson and Dennis Farina, lush electronic score by Tangerine Dream and the assured direction of Mann, Thief is a standout eighties crime flick that paved the way for his later urban thrillers such as Heat and Collateral as well as Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive. The 2-disc set includes a reversible sleeve, collector’s booklet, a brand new 4K restoration of the Director’s Cut of the film, approved by Mann, and a Blu-ray presentation of the Theatrical Cut.

From the exquisite mind of Jennifer Reeder (Knives and Skin and V/H/S/94) comes Perpetrator on Limited Edition Blu-ray, a brilliantly original and twisted take on female suppression, dangerous male predators and the pains of adolescence, with a stunning lead performance from Kiah McKirnan. Superbly blending a feminist coming-of-age drama with serial killer and supernatural fantasy genres, Perpetrator is beautifully shot in Bava-esque colours by director of photography Sevdije Kastrati, and features a phenomenal supporting cast, including Alicia Silverstone (Clueless), Melanie Liburd (Bad Boys: Ride or Die) and Christopher Lowell (Promising Young Woman). The release features a brand new audio commentary by writer-director Reeder, as well as three of her short filmsand comes with a reversible sleeve and collector’s booklet.

Finally in August Poseidon, on Limited Edition 4K UHD – with legendary director Wolfgang Petersen (Das Boot, The Perfect Storm) bringing all his talent for jaw-dropping spectacle to this 2006 epic disaster movie, a pulse-pounding update of Paul Gallico’s classic adventure novel. With an outstanding ensemble cast including Kurt Russell, Josh Lucas, Richard Dreyfuss, Andre Braugher and Emmy Rossum, and stunning special effects by Industrial Light and Magic, Poseidon is an audiovisual tour de force, presented for the first time on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, along with a shipload of extras, a reversible sleeve and a collector’s booklet.

In the summer of 1969, brothers Eric and Dean and their girlfriends Chrissie and Bailey are having one last road trip before the boys set off to Vietnam. An altercation with a shotgun-wielding biker leads them to crash their car, only for them to be rescued by Sheriff Hoyt. But their saviour isn’t as benevolent as he seems, and the gang are taken hostage and dragged to the residence of the murderous Hewitt family, among them Hoyt’s brother Thomas, a hulking brute who conceals his face behind a leather mask.

Down-on-his-luck insurance salesman Barry (Gary Frank) finds himself trapped in an apartment building on the wrong side of town with a street gang called “The Vampires” out for his blood. With the help of a telephone repairman (Ray Parker Jr.), a disabled Vietnam vet (Jan-Michael Vincent), and the granddaughter of his client (Stacey Dash), Barry must fight for his life to make it all the way down from the top floor in the hope of getting out alive.
